Accreditation and Validation
In the UK the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) is the leading register of professional acupuncturists. Members work to a Code of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct to ensure quality and patient safety. The BAcC also sets high standards for training acupuncturists through the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB). Graduates of courses that have been fully accredited (including LCTA’s graduates) are eligible for membership of the BAcC.
Our Acupuncture course has been fully accredited (Full Accreditation on the BAAB website) from 1998. Graduates from our course are therefore eligible to apply for membership of the BAcC members, upon which they are permitted to use the designatory letters MBAcC after their name.
Our course is also validated as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree by the University of Portsmouth so in addition to receiving a Licentiate Diploma our graduates are also awarded a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture.
Qualifying at an institution with over a decade’s experience in teaching Oriental medicine, our graduates know they have received the highest standards of training and that their qualifications will be recognised at the highest level by those who count, both professionally and academically.
About our Acupuncture Course
At LCTA we integrate east with west so our students learn western medical sciences alongside Chinese medicine theory, including the well-known approaches of TCM and Five Elements. In your final year you have the opportunity to apply the knowledge, reflective practice and practical skills acquired through the course within a supervised clinical practice.
Please note that our Acupuncture course is only taught at undergraduate level but if you are already a conventional or complementary medicine practitioner you may be eligible for exemptions from some units.
