Postgraduate Courses
As an LCTA graduate and TCM practitioner you can gain a qualification in a second discipline fairly quickly on a part-time basis. It is a good way of developing your professional expertise at the same time as gaining a further qualification.

Postgraduate Diploma/Masters in Oriental Herbal Medicine
Our postgraduate programme in Oriental Herbal Medicine can be studied to either Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Masters (MSc) level and is validated by the University of East London.
The Postgraduate Diploma is a two year programme studied on a Friday, plus 6 Thursdays in year two. In addition you attend a weekend course in Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy in association with the Chinese Medicine Herb Garden in Bristol and a day at Kew Gardens. The course provides an understanding of the properties, actions and applications of 200 commonly used herbs, and over 100 commonly used formulae, over 30 disease categories.
At the end of your first year you will receive a Certificate in Patent Herbal Medicine which allows you to prescribe pre-prepared formulas in your existing practice, subject to insurance. The second year of the programme is clinical and gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a practical setting.
On completion of this programme you will be awarded a PGDip in Oriental Herbal Medicine and will be eligible for automatic membership of the RCHM. At this point you can also go on to study herbs at Masters level.
The Masters programme is a one year programme with classes held on Fridays. The programme gives you the opportunity to follow a line of research which will allow you to develop a clinical specialism in your practice. There are 13 contact days, 3 of which will be held at the University of East London.
Postgraduate Diploma/Masters in Nutrition
Our postgraduate programme in Nutrition can be studied to either Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Masters (MSc) level and is validated by the University of East London.
The Postgraduate Diploma is a one year programme studied on 37 Tuesdays of the academic year. This programme not only provides a thorough grounding in conventional nutritional therapy but also has a focus on differing nutritional perspectives of traditional medicine (Chinese, Ayurvedic, Kanpo, Tibetan). The second semester of is clinical which gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a practical setting.
On completion of this programme you will be awarded a PGDip in Nutrition and will be eligible for membership of the British Association for Nutritional Therapy. At this point you can also go on to study nutrition at Masters level.
The Masters programme is an additional one year with classes on Fridays. The programme gives you the opportunity to follow a line of research which will allow you to develop a clinical specialism in your practice. There are 7 contact days, 3 of which will be held at the University of East London.
Diploma in Tui Na
Our postgraduate course in Tui Na is a one-year course that runs on 37 Fridays throughout the academic year. This course will cover the various techniques used in tui na, including compound techniques, passive movements and methods of tonification and sedation. You will also cover the TCM actions and apply your learning in a supervised clinical setting during the second semester. In addition, this course also includes the study of Shaolin Neigong, Healing Sounds and Wisdom Style Qi Gong.
On completion of the programme you will be awarded a Diploma in Tui Na and a Certificate in Qi Gong. You will also be eligible for automatic membership to the British Tui Na Association.
