STUDENT STUDY TRIP TO HANGZHOU, CHINA
25/06/2010
LCTA students work hard, and the staff and alumni at our prestigious college know that the best way to fully experience treating traditional Chinese Medicine is to work and gain experience from those who have been treating patients professionally for years.
Every year, Andy Kemp, a team leader at LCTA takes a number of students on a life-changing two week study trip to Hangzhou, China. The trip gives students the opportunity to work with a doctor in Chinese medicine for ten days on the choice of a traditional acupuncture clinic, a herbal medicine clinic or a tui-na massage clinic.
The study residential allows students to observe traditional Chinese medicine being used not only in modern day china, but as a ‘front line’ medical solution. With an array of in-patients and out-patients visiting the hospital every day; students will get the chance to see every aspect of Chinese medicine being used as treatment. In addition to the clinic experience, students will attend lectures given by experienced Chinese medicine doctors, who are specialists in acupuncture, tui-na massage and herbal medicine.
Of course, the medicine is not the only incredible culture aspect of China; students will have the chance to explore in famous West Lake and temples in and around the wonderful city of Hangzhou. The hospital itself organises regular sightseeing tours to the museum of traditional Chinese medicine, and one of the most famous temples in China; the Lingyin Temple.
Carly Lewis, Marketing manager for LCTA endorses the trip as a “chance of a lifetime; not only does the hospital experience widen the knowledge of our students; they get the opportunity to explore Chinese culture at its most tranquil in the stunning hills of Hangzhou”.
The residential trip ends with an incredible grand finale with an exclusive, delicious banquet and closing ceremony in true Chinese etiquette and style.
