The centre for professional education in oriental medicine

College History

LCTA was founded as a college of acupuncture in 1992 by Naji Malak and Francesca Montaldi. They focused on the emotional aspects of health as well as the more physical complaints from which people suffer, using acupuncture as a holistic system of medicine. That year there were just eight students and the College had no premises of its own. Susanna Dowie took over as Principal in 1995, and since then, under her guidance, the College has grown exponentially.

We are now at our current high street location in North Finchley, and have developed courses in Oriental Herbal Medicine, Tui Na (Chinese massage), Qi Gong and Nutrition, in addition to the original Acupuncture courses. Many of our staff have worked at the College since the very early days, which is testament to the commitment we all have to the College's development.

It has been an exciting journey so far, and it is by no means over!
